Acceptable Use Policy

To prepare students for an increasingly computerized society, the district has made a substantial investment in computer technology for instructional purposes. Use of these resources is restricted to students working under a teacher’s supervision and for
approved purposes only. Students and their parents will be asked to sign a user agreement regarding use of these resources; violations of this agreement may result in withdrawal of privileges and other disciplinary action.

Should violations of the Electronic Communications and Data Management regulations occur the following consequences will be invoked:
  • First Offense - The student will have a conference with the principal, or designee, and/or other disciplinary action may be taken. The student will regain his /her computer resource privileges contingent upon not receiving another report.*
  • Second Offense - If the student receives a second report he/she will be assigned lunch / after school detention hall for five days.*
  • Third Offense - If the student receives a third report he/she will lose computer resource privileges for thirty (30) days.*
  • Fourth Offense - If the student receives a fourth report he/she will be assigned to in-school suspension (ISS) for 3 days and will lose computer privileges for thirty (30) days.*
  • Fifth Offense - If the student receives a fifth report he/she will be assigned to in- school suspension (ISS) for 10 days and will lose computer resource privileges for the remainder of the year.*

Note:
  • In each instance the parents will be notified. In the event of initiation and/or participation in a major offense, a student may
  • lose computer resource privileges for an undetermined length of time.

Students and their parents should be aware that e-mail using district computers is not private and may be monitored by district staff.
